Prosthetic Dentistry

  • What is a crown?

A crown is a prosthetic dental cover. This it used to restore severely injured teeth, so that they reclaim their natural fοrm and functionality. The material used is usually porcelain fused to metal , porcelain to zirconium or all ceram crowns

  • When is a bridge necessary?

If a tooth is already lost or needs to be extracted, then a dental bridge must be used. It s stabilized on the adjacent teeth beside the gap

PORCELAIN VENNERS

Are thin pieces of porcelain that are bonded to the tooth’s surface with minimal preparation on the enamel, in order to slightly change the position, the shape, the color or the size of a tooth.
They provide the strength, the resilience and the natural look as that of the enamel of a natural tooth.

PORCELAIN CROWNS

They compensate for a bigger loss of natural tissue, with very good aesthetic results as well as strength and resilience.

ZIRCONIUM CROWNS

They are also recreating the natural form and functionality of a damaged tooth, using zirconium instead of metal beneath the porcelain.
They are more biocompatible with the tissue, by having a more eye pleasing aesthetic result as well as greater durability.
Zirconium is made by digital computerized technology CAD-CAM with very high precision.

COSMETIC IN LAYS-ON LAYS

In-lays and on-lays are indirect restorations, that are applied on an area of an old or broken large filling. On lays are applied over the cusps tips and within the grooves and the in-lays only within the grooves.Usually they are being prefered instead of fillings, because of their durability, longevity and aesthetics.

METAL PORCELAIN CROWNS/OR OVER IMPLANTS

They are reconstructions of a tooth ,based on porcelain fused to metal,, providing very high durability and strength.
When a tooth is missing it can be replaced by an implant, above of which can be placed a crown

ZIRCONIUM /PORCELAIN BRIDGES OR OVER IMPLANTS

While dental porcelain is very durable, certain foods must be avoided especially on patients that are jaw clenchers or tooth grinders.
Night mouth guards use is necessary from these patients in order to avoid excessive and unnecessary pressure and use.
